Our bodies matter. Our Catholic Faith reveals that we are embodied souls; there is a profound unity between our body and our soul (Gaudium et Spes 14). As women, our bodies, united with our souls, reflect the image of God and are integral to our identity and dignity. This belief is central to our faith and is beautifully exemplified in the Incarnation, when God took on human flesh in Jesus Christ. The Incarnation truly reveals that the human body is sacred and plays an essential role in our spiritual journey.
Our Catholic faith also reveals that we are "Temples of the Holy Spirit". We have the capacity to encounter God within us. We are called to imitate our Blessed Mother and become living tabernacles who carry Jesus to others.
"The body, in fact, is meant to be a place of encounter with the Lord, a place of prayer, a temple of the Holy Spirit." - (General Audience, February 5, 2014)
Our bodies should not be obstacles to our spiritual growth but rather vehicles through which we can express love, serve others, and participate in the sacraments. But due to the damage caused by sin, we have wounded relationships with our bodies. We often hate our bodies. We carry unprocessed trauma in our bodies. In times of stress, we often disconnect from our bodies. Therefore, in order to step into the freedom, peace, and joy that Jesus promises, we must consider the role that our own body plays in our personal healing and transformation.
At Beloved Daughters Ministries, the sacredness of the human body is central to all of our Catholic Life Coaching programs. Our unique approach to coaching combines traditional life coaching techniques with basic somatic bodywork. We will start and end our sessions by grounding ourselves in our bodies. In addition, during coaching goal-setting sessions, you will be encouraged to set "body goals." For women who want to pray with their bodies, we offer access to virtual SoulCore workout sessions. All of our coaching sessions are designed to help us avoid bodily disconnection. Our coaches stress the need to get out of our heads and into our bodies so that we can live in the present moment, which is the only place to truly encounter God.
If you're looking to deepen your spiritual journey and live more fully in the present moment, consider working with one of our coaches to start honoring your body as a sacred gift and to experience God's presence in a profound and transformative way.
